Caring for your Kikoy

Kikoy Squares

Kikoy Squares

Kikoys wash beautifully. Because your Kikoy is made from natural cotton we recommend a gentle machine washCool or warm wash up to 30 degrees. Rinse thoroughly and line dry in the shade. The Kikoy dyes are colourfast but like all cottons it is advisable to wash separately the first time.

In fact, after a couple of washes your Kikoy will become even softer.

Just remember not to dry clean, hot tumble dry or bleach your Kikoy or you will spoil the vibrant colours. Kikoys can be ironed with a steam iron but they are such a beautiful fabric that after the first wash, it often isn’t necessary to do so.

Customers tell me that they are still wearing Kikoys which are 15 – 20 years old.

Note: Sometimes you may find the new Kikoy Towel fabric a little non-absorbent. This is due to a substance manufacturers put in most new towels and sheets.

For the first wash- Halve the amount of washing powder or liquid you usually use and add 2 tablespoons of Bicarbonate Soda. Pour 1/4 cup of white vinegar into the fabric conditioner slot of your washing machine. This works very well for any new towels and sheets and is kind on both your clothing and your machine.
