How To Tie a Sarong Kikoy style
Here are some tips on the different ways you can tie your Sarong. A Kikoy is a special kind of Sarong, and can be worn in the traditional Sarong style, but also in many other ways.
We’ve provided instructions for you here, including some photo guides as well as an Illustrated Guide to Tying a Sarong that you can download and print (see end of this page).
Summertime Pashmina
- Drape the Kikoy over your shoulder with one end shorter.
- Flick the long end across your chest and over your shoulder.
Traditional Kikoy Sarong Wrap
- Hold the Kikoy behind you at hip level.
- Wrap Kikoy around you very firmly with the fringe hanging in front of the hip.
- Keeping the tension tight, roll the top of the Kikoy outwards once or twice.
- Pull wrap down gently so that it fits snugly on hips. Your kikoy should feel very firm.
- The tip is to keep the tension tight at all times.
Mini Skirt
- Fold Kikoy in half lengthways.
- Follow instructions for traditional wrap.
Kikoy Beach Dress
- Hold Kikoy behind you high under your arms.
- Grasp one end of the Kikoy with one hand.
- For the other end – Grasp a bunch of the kikoy about 20 -30cm along from the end.
- Tie the very end of one side and the buch of kikoy you have grasped from the other end. Tie these two ends together with a gentle but firm double knot across the top of your chest.
- A 20 to 30cm piece of the kikoy should be hanging free in the front.
- Now grasp this free end and tuck under the kikoy and across your chest.
- Pull a little of the end of the kikoy out so that it rests over the top of your dress. This will hold it in place.
- Smooth the kikoy so that it hangs neatly.
